Greensborough Ventures was founded to primarily fill a void in today's industrial business ecosystem. In an increasingly buy local world, global multinationals (MNCs) seeking to drive topline revenue growth with expansion into new regions are often confronted with local government mandates to include local content as a condition of winning the bid for new projects or setting up new operations. Finding the right local partners and managing these partners and suppliers in the course of running industrial projects or establishing operations is an operational and strategic challenge. A local culture-sensitive and People-sensitive approach is required. Performance expectations have to be deftly managed. Perhaps most importantly, the infamous "winner's curse" has to be avoided as local suppliers are often expensive, lowering margins, and eroding project NPV. Profit maximization is a key goal. Supported by its team's deep international exposure, Greensborough Ventures has been founded to address these challenges and to ensure that both large and small companies operating in global regions are able to thrive in a changing world order. Greensborough Ventures is led by Utpal Ghosh who has not only won and delivered complex projects on behalf of global MNCs and EPC/EPCM companies around the world, but has also experienced first-hand the challenges of managing projects and operations with local content and geopolitical constraints. Utpal started his career as a trainee engineer at the shop floor of a steel plant. Over his 30+ years' experience he has run global projects on behalf of a Canadian EPC company and has been a CEO in an operational environment. He has been engaged in iron & steel, mining, power, fertilizer, heavy equipment, chemical & sulphuric acid, and biotech projects and with multinational companies.
Utpal has a Bachelors in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, complemented by a Diploma in Advance Management from Schulich School of Business, Ontario, Canada.
